Abstract

516,463. Ammunition projectiles. SAGEB SOC. ANON DE GESTION ET D'EXPLOITATTON DE BREVETS. June 27, 1938, No. 5019/39. Convention date, June 28, 1937. Divided out of 516,818. [Class 9 (i)] A rocket projectile has a rear part 2 containing the reaction charge, which discharges rearwardly through forwardly located nozzles 3. Means are provided at the tail end for effecting ignition of the reaction charge. An initial propulsive cartridge 40l is provided at the rear end of the container and supplementary charge-rings 40n are arranged in the central space between the tail vanes 47. The cartridge 40l is placed in a sleeve 40j, which contains at its forward end a fuze for igniting the reaction charge. The gases from the cartridge drive a striker 40h on to a cap 40p, which in turn ignites a primer 40r and a retarding composition 40s which, at the end of a predetermined time, ignites the reaction charge. In a modification, the sleeve 40j is detachably mounted by a spring clip, and is detached by inertia and by gaseous reaction upon a flange on the sleeve when the projectile is discharged.
