Relates to a grenade launcher of the type comprising a tube serving as a barrel and having at its rear end fixing means connecting it rigidly to a firearm which fires by means of the blank cartridge a hollow grenade having a tail caping the launcher. The rear end of tube 1 is extended by an axial chamber 4, Fig. 13, containing a metal core 6 formed with longitudinal peripheral grooves 8 for the passage of propulsion gases from the blank cartridge, the core 6 being secured in the chamber 4 by pins 7 which are adapted to shear under the impact of a bullet fired inadvertently, the core 6 being in that case driven forward until stopped at the front part of the chamber 4 while the bullet is received and stopped in a cavity 11 in the rear of the core so preventing explosion of the grenade on the launcher. The forward movement of the core 6 also uncovers apertures 9, 10 in the wall of the chamber 4 to permit escape of the gases. The core 6 has ogival ends, the rear end with the inlet 11 having a hood 12 which is pierced by the bullet when inadvertently fired. The launcher has an elastic ring 13 for retaining the grenade on the tube 1 and a pivotally mounted sighting frame 14 which can be folded back as shown in Fig. 1.
