Abstract
515,466. Two-stroke oil engines. BARGEBOER, A. Feb. 25,1938, No. 5995. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1937. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In a two-stroke engine in which one end of the cylinder forms a pump for forcing scavenging air or a mixture of air and fuel into the cylinder at the end of the expansion strcke, the air is drawn into the pump at the beginning of the stroke through ports 20, 24, Fig. 10, in the cylinder and piston, is compressed during the whole of the stroke and discharged through ports 18, 19 to an injector nozzle 22 which induces a flow of secondary air through the inlet 23. The fuel injector 35 may be located within the nozzle 22. In a modification the injector nozzle 31, Fig. 8, is formed in the piston. Air is pumped to the nozzle through the passage 29, and a port 27 supplies secondary air and the air to the pump when uncovered by the piston. The air is whirled.by vanes 32a. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 468,320.
