Abstract
514,739. Gas turbines. HOLZWARTH, H. May 13, 1938, No. 14395. [Class 110 (iii)] Parts of an internal-combustion engine are cooled by separate cooling fluids at different temperatures, so that the parts where the higher velocities of the working fluid obtain are cooled by the .cooler fluid. The forward portions of the nozzle walls 2 are cooled by cold water which is passed through the bores 9, 10 in such quantity that steam is not generated. The rearward portions and the valve chamber are cooled by hot water in the chamber 19 and passing through bores 16 in the nozzle walls and steam under pressure is generated in the process. The cold water is introduced to and evacuated from side chambers 11 by way of pipes 13.
