Abstract

514,545. Foot-arch supports. JEFFRIES, C. W., and PADMORE & BARNES, Ltd., June 18, 1938, No. 18154. [Classes 17 (ii) and 17 (iii)] To position a foot-supporting pad in a shoe the insole is formed to receive the pad at any one of a number of possible positions and a foot-support has corresponding means to indicate thereon in relation to a foot placed thereon positions for the pad, whereby a selected position may be read from the foot support and a pad approximately secured in the shoe. The foot support may comprise a slide 27 in guides having a heel rest 29, the position of the slide being indicated by a pointer 30 co-operating with a size scale. A group of holes 32 may receive in various positions a pair of pegs 13 carried by a metatarsal arch support. The insole has an identical group of holes 19. The slide is extended to the size of the foot, and the foot placed on the slide. An arch support is then positioned to suit the foot and the foot removed. The pad is then detached from the slide and attached to the insole in the position which was found correct on the slide.
