387,296. Measuring and fitting for boots &c. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London. -(Regal Shoe Co. ; Whitman, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Oct. 18, 1932, No. 29131. [Class 17 (iii).] A calliper-like device for measuring feet and checking shoe sizes therefor carries a pair of contact faces 4, 5 for the toe and heel respectively of a foot on one pair of arms 1, 2 and contact surfaces 7, 6 on extensions 1a, 2a of these arms to engage the toe and heel of a shoe, the size being given by an indicator 8 and scale 9. Removable tips 7 of different sizes may be attached to the end of the arm 2a to give any desired amount of clearance at the toe end of a shoe to a wearer. In a modified form for high-heeled shoes, the front portion of the arm 2a is made flexible to follow the contour of the sole to compensate for the difference in overall length caused by the higher heel.
