Abstract
317,206. Brannock, C. F. July 23, . 1928. Boots, shoes, and lasts, measuring and fitting for.-A foot-measuring device comprises a base having a heel-abutment and scale for indicating the overall length of the foot a ball joint abutment and scale for indicating the length from heel to ball-joint, and a width indicating member adjustable laterally relatively to the longitudinal axis of the foot. The device, which, as shown, may be arranged for use for both right and left feet, comprises a base 1 with heel abutments 2, 3 and scales 4, 5 for indicating to an observer in front of the foot the length. A ball-joint abutment 6 having a depression 9 to receive the balljoint and ridges 10, 12 to engage respectively with the bony structure of the foot at the end of the first metatarsal bone M and between the first proximal phalange bone P and first metatarsal bone M, is adjustable along scales 7, 8 to indicate the length from ball to heel. A slide 18 having graduations 27 marked to correspond with the length of the foot, preferably the length from ball to heel, is transversely movable on the base 1 to indicate, against scales 24, 25 correlated to the scale 4, 5 or 7, 8, the foot width.
