Abstract

504,612. Foot arch supports. SARCEVIC, M. July 23, 1937, No. 20479. [Class 17 (ii)] An arch-supporting plate is mounted for free pivotal movement in every direction, under the action of the foot in walking, about a point preferably arranged beneath or near the region of the sustentaculum tali of the foot and within the natural foot-supporting tripod formed by the heel bone and first and fifth metatarsal bones. The arch-supporting plate 17 extends from the heel end to the ball or joint of the foot and is supported by a bearing and supporting device 15, 16 disposed beneath the plate 17 and built in or sunk below the sole 14 of the footwear. The bearing and supporting device may consist of a ball and socket joint, the ball 16 forming a projection on the underside of the plate 17. If desired, the arrangement of ball and socket may be reversed. The parts 15, 16 of the bearing and supporting device may be adjusted in height by screw means, or pads may be inserted under the socket in the sole for the same purpose. Spocification 486,921 is referred to.
