Abstract

510,046. Drying pharmaceutical &c. products. GIL, L. June 23, 1938, No. 18711. Convention date, March 10. [Class 34 (ii)] The air or vapour or mixtures thereof for drying sweetmeats, pharmaceutical products, &c. in a drying chamber A is in a slightly superheated condition and after drying is re-cycled to the chamber in its initial state of temperature and humidity by dividing the used stream of gaseous medium into two parts, one of which is of such volume that after passing over a moisture absorbent M and re-uniting with the un-dried part as much moisture is removed as is taken up in the drying chamber. The volume of gaseous medium is regulated by a valve V which is varied in accordance with the temperature at J where the divided streams of gaseous medium re-unite. The circulation is effected by a fan W and deleterious matter may be removed from the gaseous medium by sieves T<1>, T<2>, T<3>. Suitable moisture absorbents comprise active carbon silica gel, alumina gel, infusorial earth, water or chloride of lime.
