Abstract
838,623. Washing gases. BERGBAU-AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT NEUE HOFFNUNG. April 23, 1956 [April 22, 1955], No. 12426/56. Class 55 (2). In apparatus for washing dust from air or other gas, the gas is first-sprayed at 2<SP>1</SP> with a washing liquid and passed to a separating chamber 3 and thence through a perforated partition 6 to a chamber 7, where it is sprayed with a cooling liquid to cause condensation of the vapour of the washing liquid in the gas, a refrigerating machine acting as a heat-pump to cool, in a chamber 73, liquid to be sprayed into the chamber and to heat, in a chamber 12, liquid sprayed into the gas at 2<SP>1</SP> to increase the degree of saturation of the gas with respect to the washing liquid. Alternatively the gas may be heated before it is sprayed with washing liquid at 2<SP>1</SP>. A tank 5 collects used washing and cooling liquid, which may be circulated through chambers 12 and 13 for re-use. Devices may be provided for automatically controlling the temperature of the washing liquid in accordance with the temperature of the incoming gas and with the temperature of the cooling liquid. The speed of the compressor 14 of the refrigerating machine may be controlled in accordance with the temperature of the incoming gas.
