Abstract
356,889. Cooling gases ; refrigerating. FRANKL, M., 234, Ulmerstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. July 28, 1930, No. 22701. Convention date, July 27, 1929. Addition to 294,354, and 308,228, [both in Class 29, Cooling &c.]. [Class 29.] The process of the parent Specification is modified by delivering the gas from the admission regenerator b<1> or b<11> to the spray cooler f at points 1 .. 5 successively lower as the admission regenerator becomes warmer, and a part of the cold gas leaving the spray cooler is branched off and used in a counter-current exchanger p to cool down the spraying liquid, the remainder of the gas giving up all its cold to the outgoing regenerator. The spraying liquid may be led through a concentrator (not shown) before passing through the exchanger p, and is cooled in an exchanger r by a refrigerating machine. The admission to the spray cooler is controlled by a sliding valve s. The process may be applied to the separation of steam from air, benzol from coke-oven gas, or carbonic acid gas from combustion products, and brine, lye, alcohol or toluol may be used in the spray.
