439,772. Gas - washing processes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN-EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN MEAF, 30, Croeselaan, Utrecht, Holland. March 8, 1935, No. 7285. Convention date, June 22, 1934. [Class 55 (ii)] Light hydrocarbons and naphthalene are washed out of gases such as coke oven gas by oil, cooled to below 0‹ C. and are continuously removed, the light hydrocarbons by heat and the naphthalene and moisture by cooling and crystallization, the oil being used again in continuous circulation. Oil passes from a washer 1 through a container 2 and pump 3 to a heatexchanger 4, heater 5, and vaporizer 6 in which benzol vapours are evolved. The oil returns through the exchanger 4 to a a cooler 7 and container 8 and is then cooled to below 0‹ C. preferably about 4‹ C., in whence it passes through a crystallizer 11, a centrifuge or filter press 12, and container 13, back to the washing tower, with or without cooling to between 0 and - 10‹ C.
