Abstract

509,880. Moulding wood. NIELSEN, R. A. Sept. 23, 1938, No. 27734. [Class 145 (i)] Wooden and like poles or moulded rods 7 are formed by forcing them through one or more fixed annular cutters 4, 5, 6. The poles are fed forward by gripping rollers 12, 12<1>, disposed in two or more rows, all the rollers being driven by chain gearing from shafts 8a. Each roller is carried by a bell-crank-lever 14 and is urged' into contact with the rod by springs 15 mounted on a shaft 19 which is adjustable lengthwise to vary the pressure exerted by the rollers. Each of the spring abutments 22 may be adjusted on the shaft 19 independently. Rods of any cross section or with grooves may be cut. Intermittent grooves may be cut by a cutter adjustable radially to move it in or out of action.
