Roller apparatus. - A combined mixing and shaping machine for working indiarubber &c. comprises a pair of mixing rollers 10, 11 and a shaping roller 15 mounted parallel or in line with the mixing rollers. During mixing, the roller 15 is moved clear of the mixing rollers and the distance between the rollers 10, 11 is adjusted by screws 14. The roller 10 is driven through a twospeed gear and drives the roller 11 at a different speed. When mixing is complete, the rollers 10, 11 may be separated and the roller 15 is moved up to the roller 10 and adjusted by screws 16. The roller 10 drives the roller 15 at the same speed as its own. The sheet is cut into strips as it emerges by rotary knives. In a modification, two shaping rollers are mounted on the ends of the shafts of the mixing rollers. The shaping rollers, which are preferably in the form of sleeves, are detachable. All the rollers may be provided with known heating and cooling means.
