Abstract
548,719. Net-making machines. PORTER SPIERS (LEICESTER), Ltd., and PORTER, D. Sept. 3, 1941, No. 11278. [Class 74 (i)] The draw-off rollers 3, 4, 5 of a machine for making netting are provided with driving means at both ends of the rollers so that they are driven with uniform torque and without tendency to run askew. The driving means at each end may comprise chain gear 29, 30 for the front and rear rollers 5, 3, and in this case the middle roller is not positively driven. Alternatively all of the draw-off rollers may be geared together at both sides of the assembly by spur, mangle or like toothed gears. The rollers 3, 4, 5 may be mounted in anti-friction bearings in blocks, two of which 8, 9 are slidably mounted in brackets so that the rear and middle rollers can be moved to regulate the pressure exerted between the rollers. The rollers may be covered with felt or indiarubber.
