[Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iv)] [Also in Group XVIII] In an electric hand lamp, particularly for use by pedestrians on unlighted roads, of the kind having a clear glass 7 at the front, reflex reflecting red glass 21 at the rear, and a concave reflector 6 in which are formed apertures 23 for the passage of lights to the rear glass, mirrors 25 are so positioned within the reflector 6 as to increase the proportion of light received by the rear glass. Further mirrors 26 serving the same purpose, may be disposed in the space behind the reflector 6. Each pair of mirrors 25, 26 is formed from a single polished metal blank, the former being secured between the front glass 7 and the edge of the reflector and the latter being attached to the lamp casing 1 by claws 8a. The facetted inner face 21a of the rear glass is covered by insulating sheets 15, 16 formed with apertures 24 aligned with the reflector apertures 23 and carrying two conducting blades 17, 18 with which contact the electrodes 13, 14 of a battery 12 housed in the lower part of the casing 1. The blade 17 engages the central contact 11a of the bulb 11 and the circuit is closed and opened by a strip 19 adapted to be moved into or out of engagement with the electrode 14 by an external knob 20.
