Abstract
308,669. Burns, W. A. Nov. 24, 1927. Signs.-In a sign of the daylight reflector type the light admission opening between the upper edges of a front stencil S, Fig. 1, and an inclined rear reflector R is closed by a field of centrally pivoted louvres or metal strips A - - D which may be rotated continuously or swung from the edge on to the closure position. If the strips are formed as reflectors and lamps L are placed as shown, flashing may be obtained at night as well as by day. If flashing is not required, the strips are left in the position A - - D by day, and turned into the position A<1> - - D<1> by night. The strips may be placed behind the stencil or elsewhere in the body of the sign. In a modification, the stencil S<1>, Fig. 2, is placed between the reflector R<1> and the strips, and the lamps L<1> are placed between the stencil S<1> and the strips. The strips may be twisted so that one end is at right angles to the other end.
