488,122. Road signs ; electric-battery lamps. GLEAVES, S. T., and WATTS, G. March 6, 1937, No. 6670. [Class 3 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] A portable sign adapted to be detachably mounted on the upper end of stanchions forming temporary fencings, comprises an opaque disc provided with a central window fitted with a lens behind which is secured a casing containing illuminating means. In the embodiment shown, the casing 5, secured behind the disc 3, is supported by a socket 26 on a stanchion 25 and houses a battery lamp 17 supported together with a reflector 19 on an extension 16 of a platform 14 supporting the battery 15. The terminal strip 22 of the battery forms one of the contacts of a switch controlling the lamp circuit, the second contact of this switch comprising a pivoted arm 23. The illuminating means may be removably mounted in the casing and may comprise an oil or acetylene burner.
