Abstract
195,833. Murray, E. T. R. Feb. 24, 1922. Signs.-In an illuminated sign of the kind described in Specification 11112/09, in which light from an electric lamp enters plates 1, 2 of glass &c. along one edge, the lamp casing 7 is provided with a hinged or removable cover. In one form, Fig. 1, the cover 8 is hinged at 9 to the casing and its lower surface forms a reflector. Supporting-hooks 11 are secured to the. casing at each end, and a catch 12 rotatable on the shank of each hook secures the cover in the closed position. Beneath the cover, and preferably attached to it, is a lamp fitting as described in Specifications 173,052 and 202,000, [both in Class 75 (ii), Lamp chimneys &c.], the rods 4, 5 which serve as conductors for the lamp current being connected to flat contacts 13 on the base of the bridge-piece 6. When the cover 8 is closed, it holds the contacts 13 in engagement with spring contacts 14 and so completes the lamp circuit. When the catch 12 is turned to release the cover 8, the bridge-piece 6 is raised by a spring 17 and the contacts 13, 14 are thus separated. The cover 8 may be formed as shown in Fig. 3 or Fig. 4, or may carry an attached reflector, Fig. 5. The inner surfaces of the casing may be silvered. The cover 8 may be hinged at one end or completely detachable, or the casing may have one side hinged instead of the cover.
