Abstract

595,976. Electric battery lamps. GREBEL, M. July 12, 1945, No. 17796. Convention date, March 14, 1941. [Class 39 (ii)] A pocket lamp consists of an insulating casing E, Fig. 1 (not shown), containing two cells H, I each associated with a pair of resilient contacts F which co-operate with a central rotary switching member A comprising an insulating disc which carries the bulb holder and reflector and is provided with arcuate contact strips G, g to engage the ends of the contacts F in such manner that rotation of the member A in one direction from the " off " position connects the two cells in parallel, and a further partial turn through one-eighth of a revolution connects them in series, thereby providing alternatively a dim light or one of greater intensity. The rotary switching member A is shaped or dished to receive a concave reflector which may rotate with it, and the bulb may be mounted axially or transversely therein so that light is directed through a front lens and also through a coloured glass at the rear. The casing is shaped to provide access to a recess in the rear of the switching member so that the latter can be rotated by inserting a finger therein.
