509,650. Electrodeposition of copper. UNITED CHROMIUM, Inc. July 4, 1938, No. 19745. Convention date, July 13, 1937. [Class 41] Copper is plated on to iron, steel, nickel, zinc or its alloys, lead or its alloys, aluminium or the like from solutions containing the ion Cu(P<SP>2</SP>O7) 2 <SP>6e</SP> and having a pH between'7.5 and 9.5, as measured by the glass electrode pH meter. The bath may be made by suspending a copper salt in a perforated container in a warm solution of an excess of an alkali pyrophosphate. The baths may also contain alkali-metal chloride, oxalate, tartrate or carbonate, naphthalene disulphonic acid, or cadmium or lead pyrophosphates.
