Abstract
460,676. Electrodeposition of zinc. MAERTENS, F. Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35620. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 41] Zinc is deposited from a bath containing zinc iodide to. which an alkali metal aluminate is added in order to prevent precipitation of basic zinc iodide after continued use. The electrolyte may be formed by immersing pure laminated zinc plates in distilled water and gradually adding iodine to a specific gravity of 50-60‹ BÚ. The reaction may be accelerated by gentle heating and addition of a small amount of zinc iodide. A solution of sodium aluminate in weak caustic soda is then added to such an extent that the volume of the aluminate in solution is 5 per cent that of the zinc iodide.
