Abstract

258,726. Polivit Manufacturing Co., Ltd., (Valentin, F. J. M.). Sept. 7, 1925. Cleaning-compositions. - In the electrolytic cleaning of silver, plate, &c., the articles are immersed in an alkaline bath and allowed to touch aluminium alloys containing minor proportions of zinc and copper. Suitable baths are aqueous solutions of washing soda, caustic soda, or salts of other alkali metals. Ammonia or a salt of ammonia e.g. the carbonate or chloride is preferably added. Alloys specified consist of (1) aluminium 95-97 lb.. zinc 3-2 lb., copper 1.0-0.5 lb., silver 0.5-0.25 lb.; (2) aluminium 95 lb., nickel 5 lb., zinc 1.5 lb., copper 0.5 lb.
