509,488. Studs for athletic footwear. HAUBENSAK, W. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27902. Void. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1936. [Class 17 (iii)] A flanged member with an internally screw-threaded socket 1 is non-rotatably secured, either by nails through holes in the flange 2 or by radial spikes 3 formed integral with the flange 2, in a sole S or heel of a shoe, and a stud 7 with an integral or attached shank 8 is screwed into the socket to attach the stud. The upper face of the stud 7 may be concave and provided with radial grooves, and the sides may be flattened for engagement by a spanner to tighten the attachment. The shank 8 which may be embedded into the material of the stud has two spaced discs 9, 10, the upper of which is provided with notches 11.
