Abstract
451,196. Sports shoes. LEVY, S. F., 1307 W., Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Dec. 3, 1935, No. 33500. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1934. [Class 17 (iii)] A spike device for sports shoes comprises a metal plate 1 adapted to be secured against the bottom of the shoe and having a plurality of threaded apertures for reception of projecting spike elements, means for rigidly securing the plate against the sole, and spike elements 4 having head portions seating against the soleengaging face of the plate and rigidly yet detachably secured to the plate by the said threads. Localized and limited areas of the plates immediately embracing the threaded apertures, are pressed out so as to form countersunk sockets 3 in which the heads of the spikes are accommodated, and to provide a length of threaded aperture in excess of the normal thickness of the plate. The means of securing the plate to the bottom of the shoe comprises male screw elements 5 passing through holes in the plate and engaging female elements 6. When the plate is intended for use at the heel end of the shoe, the elements 6 are made sufficiently long to pass through the thickness of the heel.
