Abstract
233,549. Shearer, C. T. A. June 14, 1924. Protectors, securing. -A device for detachably securing the lower part of a heel to the upper consists of a stud 2 provided with an interrupted thread so as to engage a socket 3 with similarly-interrupted threads after the manner of a gun breach. The stud is disposed centrally of the heel and is carried on a plate 1 suitably shortened and built into the heel. The socket 3 is formed in a metal part joined to a plate 4 attached to the lower part of the heel. The socket 3 is split. The lower part of the heel is rotated 90‹ for attachment purposes and the stud is inserted in the socket. The heel part is then returned to normal and a locking screw is inserted to hold the parts in position. The splitting of the socket 3 allows a general tightening effect by the screw 5.
