Abstract

224,624. Barrett Boot Co., Ltd., and Barrett, A. P. Aug. 23, 1923. Protectors, securing ; studs, detachable.-Soles, top lifts of heels, or sectional parts thereof, are provided with screws by which they are attached to threaded sockets fixed in the insoles or midsoles or heels of boots and shoes. The sockets 1 are flanged at 2 and are located around the margins of the soles and heels. Holes may be arranged in the flanges through which nails are driven to prevent turning, or the sockets may be screwed or grooved, or be of conical formation externally, for the same purpose. The screws 8 may have flat heads with screw-driver slots, or holes or peripheral notches for adjustment purposes. The screw holes are countersunk and the holes are plugged with leather, rubber, or the like secured by adhesive or nails. In some instances, the screws may have spiked heads for athletic purposes.
