Protectors, construction of; protectors, securing.- A removable heel piece or tip for boot and shoe heels consists of two or more layers a, b secured together by independent rivets c and shaped to the contour of the heel, the said heel piece being without an aperture in any layer other than holes such as e for a fastening screw or screws d and nails f which prevent turning of the heel piece. The outer layer a may be of leather and the inner layer of metal, or two layers of leather or equivalent material may be used. Screws may replace nails or vice versa. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 25185/01, 14571/04, and 207,765.
