Abstract

176,185. Seymour, W. Dec. 30, 1920. Protectors, securing. - Detachable soles and heels are secured by a bifurcated rivet a attached to a metal plate b which is provided with holes to receive nails c, which are driven into the sole or heel of the boot. The heel-pad e, shown in Fig. 3, is provided with a central hole f to receive the rivet, and two recesses g, g, the one on the inner face being adapted to fit over the plate b, and that on the tread face to receive a plate h, having a central hole i, through which the rivet is passed and its ends bent over on to the plate h. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the rivet m has an ordinary head n and is passed through a flanged hole l in a separate plate k which is nailed to the boot heel. For securing detachable soles, two or more bifurcated rivets are used.
