Protectors, securing. - Relates to detachable treads for soles or heels of the kind in which the permanent part 1 of the boot and the detachable tread 2 are each provided with a metal plate 3 and 4, respectively, normally connected by hooks on one plate engaging openings in the other, a locking member being fixed to one plate and extending into an opening in the other plate, and consists in providing the opening 12 which engages with the locking member 10 with a spring tongue or tongues 14 to prevent relative horizontal movement. The detachable tread 2 is secured to its plate 4 by rivets embedded in the tread and upset at their upper ends. Preferably, these rivets 15 are hollow.
