Abstract
365,870. Boot &c. protectors. BRIDI, B., 124, Feldstrasse, Schuhmacher, Zurich, Switzerland. March 19, 1931, No. 8451. [Class 17 (iii).] A removable pad for a boot heel is carried by a metal frame 26, Fig. 2, which is formed with a recess 27 having dovetail edges slidably to engage with a metal plate 24, Fig. 1, carried by the heel body, the two plates being locked in position by the engagement of hooks 33 at the front end of a U-shaped spring 30 with cut-away portions 32 of the plate 24. The pad may be countersunk in the tread face of the frame 26, which may also be formed with projections, or have heavy nails &c. secured to it, for mountaineering. In a modified construction, Fig. 5, the U-shaped spring is carried by a metal plate 40 which is held in a studded heel-shaped plate 41 undercut to engage the plate 24 on the heel.
