Abstract

239,319. Carlson, J. E. G., and Giles, F. T. July 14, 1924. Pedal and like non-slipping devices.-A device attachable to soles and/or heels for preventing strains to athletes and others consists of two plates, the outer one of which when in contact with the ground can rotate on the other fixedly attached to the shoe. An inner plate c of circular form has flanges e for attachment to a midsole a. The flanges are covered by an outsole b. An outer plate d turns on a central boss h of the plate c and is secured by a screw g. Grooves i may be provided in the plates c, d for antifriction balls j. The plate d may be flanged at k to prevent ingress of dirt. The outer face of the plate d may be covered with leather or other material which may be studded with nails to prevent slipping or the nails may be integral with the plate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4899/11 and 141,804.
