Abstract
359,737. Boot &c. protectors. BERRY, D. A., 58, York Road, Northampton. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33127. [Class 17 (iii).] Soles and heels of boots &c.are provided with metal plates 1 adapted readily to be attached to and detached from the boot &c., and having associated therewith studs, spikes, or other projections 3, some or all of which bend or turn from the plates to prevent slipping. The plates 1 may be of any shape and size but are preferably such as to cover the surface of the sole or heel and are shaped to the surface of the sole or heel. If desired, they may be in a number of sections pivotally connected by interengaging lugs and slots. The projections 3 may be punched integrally from the plates, as shown, and the holes 4 for the securing screws may also be punched. One or more rows of projections 12 may be provided round the whole or a part of the sides of the plate. In a modified construction, holes are punched in the plate and headed nails, spikes, &c., of desired length are inserted from inside before the plate is attached to the hoot &c. The edge of the plate is serrated or pointed and turned down to provide ground-engaging spikes.
