Abstract

508,419. Two-part couplings. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., McLOUGHLIN, H. F., and HARRISON, B. C,. April 13, 1938, No. 11285. [Class 38 (i)] The plug member of a plug-and-socket coupling is fitted with a fuse which can be selected according to the load for which the plug is to be employed, by making the body of the plug member in three parts, viz. a base c carrying the contacts e, a cover d, and an interposed part a, with a recess o in its face containing clips m for receiving a cartridge fuse. The clips m have shanks projecting through the bottom of the part a to form contacts that engage a contact j attached to a terminal k and a contact j<SP>1</SP> attached to one of the plug contacts e so that the insertion of the fuse completes the connection. The cover d is attached by a screw accessible only from the face of the base c so that access to the fuse can be obtained only when the plug is not inserted in the socket. The intermediate member a may be omitted if an unfused plug is required. Specifications 421,892, 439,897, 457,130, and 492,912 are referred to.
