507,551. Domestic taps. READ, J. E. Feb. 28, 1938, No. 974/39. Divided out of 507,518, [Group XXVI]. [Class 135] A domestic screwdown valve has a flat seating washer 18 held in position by a perforated cage 17 with its central part overlapping the seat orifice 7 so as to be pressed by conduit pressure into engagement with the valve member. The flat-faced valve member 19 has an upwardly projecting stem 21 adapted to engage the usual socket 15 in the end of the actuating spindle and a downwardly projecting stem 20 adapted to engage the bottom of the casing to prevent undue pressure being placed on the seating washer.
