506,752. Internal shoe brakes. ROVER CO., Ltd., and IVERSEN, P. A. SCOTT-. Dec. 3, 1937, Nos. 33442/37 and 9334/38. [Class 103 (i)] In an internal shoe brake, two shoes a are moved outwards against the action of springs f, g to engage the internal periphery of a drum b by a two-armed lever j provided with recesses k which bear against thrust pieces i on flanges h of the shoes a arranged in two different planes. The lever is operated by a link p and is supported by an abutment piece o on a plate d carrying stops c against which the shoes a are held by the springs f, gÀ The springs f may be stronger than the springs g to hold the shoes with one end against a stop c during application of the brake. In a modification, the flange h of the upper shoe is extended downwards so that a smaller lever can be employed and thrust pieces are adjustably secured by bolts and slots to the extensions. A modified arrangement of springs is employed.
