Abstract

898,646. Internal shoe-drum brakes. GIRLING Ltd. Nov. 3, 1958 [Nov. 2, 1957], No. 34274/57. Class 103 (1). In-an internal shoe-drum brake, the shoes 10, 11 are pivoted at their ends remote from the actuating means 12 on pins 14, 15 which are held rigidly in a fitting 16 welded to the inner face of the back plate 13 of the brake and the pins are retained in the fitting by means of a locking plate 19 which is secured by a bolt 20 passing through the back plate into a tapped hole in the fitting 16; the locking plate 19 being so shaped as to engage in annular grooves 18 in the pins 14, 15 such that when the locking plate 19 and the pins 14, 15 are removed, the shoes can be withdrawn in directions substantially parallel to the back plate.
