Abstract
502,937. Pressure-regulating, valves. MILLS, G. D. July 13, 1938, No. 20714. Convention date, July 14, 1937. [Class 135] In pressure-regulating valves for gas, water, &c. the fluid passes from an inlet 19 past a lift valve 34 to a chamber below a weighted diaphragm 16 and thence to an outlet 20. The inlet and outlet passages are formed in a casting 18 bolted to the flange 15 of the casing 10, 11 containing the valve mechanism. The valve 34 is carried on a plate 33 moving on guide-pins 36 under the control of springs 35 and is actuated by an adjustable thrust-rod 31 pivoted by a pin 28 to the diaphragm stem 25 which is guided by a pair of links 29 connected at one end to the pivot-pin 28 and at the other to pins 30 secured in the casing adjacent the valve seat. A lid 39 is provided to permit the load on the diaphragm to be adjusted. A breather valve and port 37 may be arranged above the diaphragm, and the chamber below the diaphragm may have a relief valve.
