Abstract
501,027. Heat - treatment. SADLER, A. T. (Detroit Electric Furnace Co.) Aug. 20, 1937, No. 22829. Drawings to Specification. [Class 72] [Also in Group XI] A heating current is magnetically induced in a welded joint to cause heating to a predetermined temperature and the heating current is then gradually reduced to control the cooling. In a pipe joint the predetermined temperature is 1200‹F., and this is thermostatically maintained for a time of one hour per inch of thickness of the pipe. The current is induced by a coil fed from a transformer with a tapped secondary enabling step-bystep reduction during cooling.
