Indicators; tilting-furnaces.-In a furnace for heating steel or other magnetic material, a magnetic compass O, mounted adjacent to a heating- chamber M and a magnetizing coil L, indicates the critical point of the steel, and may be adapted to control an electric circuit for actuating a signal, or for tilting the furnace to eject the charge, or for controlling the supply of gas or other fuel.
