Abstract

1,036,995. Induction immersion heaters. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 30, 1965 [May 4, 1964], No. 18423/64. Heading H5H. An induction immersion heater for maintaining or raising the temperature and stirring of liquid metal comprises a non-magnetic U-shaped refractory ceramic casing 1 in liquid metal 2 and containing a laminated U-shaped magnetic core the arms of which carry induction coils 4, 5 connected in series or parallel to an A.C. source. Clamped across the ends of the arms is a core butt 8 carrying a lifting lug 9. Cooling air may be blown through the casing by a blower 8 and the casing may comprise a ceramic material supported from a metal foundation by expansion absorbing material.
