Abstract
807,888. Automatic temperature control systems. FOXBORO CO. Aug. 7, 1956 [Aug. 4, 1955], No. 24196/56. Class 38 (4). Temperature control of an oven is effected by utilizing the fall in magnetic permeability at the Curie point of a core of appropriate metal or alloy of a coil-core combination to reduce the heating of a resistor in the same A.C. circuit as the coil. In Fig. 2 the fall in impedance of coil 10 with core 11 forming part of potentiometer 10-11, 14 reduces the voltage across heating resistor 12; alternatively the coil may form part of a parallel or series-tuned circuit in resonance below the Curie point but which is detuned above this point to reduce the voltage or current available to the heating resistor. Fig. 10 shows a transformer 40 the coupling of which falls off at the Curie point to reduce the power delivered to resistor 41. Examples of metals and alloys suitable for core materials for different temperatures are given.
