Abstract

1,160,788. Nickel-iron alloys. VACUUMSCHMELZEL G.m.b.H. Oct. 20, 1967 [Oct, 21, 1966], No.47802/67. Heading C7A. Magnetically soft material having high excursion range of induction and pulse permeability, suitable for choke or pulse transformer cores, is made by annealing an alloy consisting of 61-67% Ni, 2-4% Mo and remainder Fe, with usual deoxidation and processing additives e.g. 0À49-0À6% Mn, at 950-1220‹ C. for 4-6 hours e.g. in a H 2 atmosphere low in O 2 , then heat-treating at between the Curie-point (500-550‹C.) and 200‹C. for 3-5 hours, preferably in a magnetic field whose lines of force run transversely in the alloy to the ultimate direction of the magnetic flux. Prior to heat-treating, the annealed alloy may be cooled to 200‹C. or below with or without heating to above the Curie-point e.g. to 750‹ C. The alloy may be in the form of rolled strip 0À006-0À05 mm thick.
