Abstract
644,821. Uniting by fusion. BENNETTS, H. G., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL, CO., Ltd. Feb. 6, 1948, No. 3555. [Class 83 (iv)] In welding plates, tubes, rods, &c., of high electrical conductivity metal, e.g. brass, copper, &c., by induction heating, a piece of high resistance metal, e.g. steel is located at the joint to augment the heating effect and is left in the completed joint. In welding tubes 1, 2 a metal ring 4 with or without added metal or flux is located adjacent the joint and remains in the joint after welding by a H.F. coil 6. Flat workpieces may be welded similarly. The ring may contain a side or outer channel for flux &c.
