508,921. Supply systems for induction furnaces. BERGHAUS, B. Sept. 16, 1938, No. 27049. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1937. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXII] Spot welding is effected by currents induced in the work by a magnet coil 12. Frequencies of 300-20,000 and a welding time of 1-<1>/1000 second are used. In Fig. 1, the coil is fed from a source 16 over switching tubes 17, 18 with grids 19, 20 connected to an impulse transmitter 21, the connections of which may be changed by a pedal switch 22. In Fig. 3, the secondaries 44 of a controlling transformer are connected to a short-circuiting switch 49 which is opened when current flows in a relay 50 due to discharge of a condenser 53 controlled by the pedal switch 22. The period of welding is determined by the value of the reactance 54.
