Abstract
499,865. Capping bottles &c. YOUNG, S. D. May 28, 1937, No. 14912. [Class 125 (ii)] In a sealing-head for securing caps or closures on bottles or the like of the kind in which jaw-like elements slidably mounted in an annular member under spring control are engaged directly with the cap, a tapered thrust-ring 19 is arranged within the housing 5 to move the jaws 13 against the action of springs 15 so as to bead the lower edge of the cup 30 over the shoulder 33 of the bottle. The housing 5, which also carries the pressure pad 24 and associated parts, is connected to the adapter 1 by a rubber or like cushion 6 to afford the necessary accommodation for variations in the bottles.
