Abstract

447,447. Capping bottles. KARLSSON, A. H. S., 1, Oskarsgatan, and SVENSSON, S. J., 8, Gripgatan, both in Linkoping, Sweden. April 30, 1935, No. 12930. [Class 125 (ii)] An apparatus of the type which makes and applies bottle caps at a common station and which has a stamp and a die for cutting out and applying the capsule blanks, is characterized by a keeping means 23 which keeps the plate or strip from which the blank is cut out, in position during the stamping, forming, and applying operation, and prevents it from following the stamp when retracted after cutting the blank. The keeping means may comprise a disc which is fixed to and parallel with the die 1. This disc may be secured to the die 1 by bolts &c. Washers may be interposed between the disc and the die, and the disc may be allowed a certain amount of play in the direction of the axis of the stamp. In the form shown, the sleeve 23 exerts a resilient pressure on the die due to the spring 24. After the stamping operation the capsule is secured to the bottle by the compression of a rubber annulus 16.
