A screw-cap stopper has a central boss 1 of less diameter than the container neck and mounting on a step 2 a rubber or like resilient ring 3 of rectangular section ana of such a size that it is compressed on and into the container neck on screwing down the cap. The ring is held in place by the head 6 of a peg 5. The boss may be fixed to or integral with the cap.
