Abstract

499,735. Trench mortars. SAGEB SOC. ANON. DE GESTION ET D'EXPLOITATION DE BREVETS. Dec. 28, 1937, No. 20303/38. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1936. Divided application. [Class 92 (i)] Relates to mountings for infantry mortars, as described in Specification 487,534, having a shock absorber 13, Fig. 4, interposed between the base-plate 2 and the front supporting carriage, the breech end 42, Fig. 7, of the barrel 1 and part-spherical ends 13a, 13b of the shock absorber being joined by a pin 43 to form a sphere which engages a cavity in the base-plate. According to the invention, the cavity in the base-plate is cut away at 43a, Figs. 4, 5, to enable the pin 43 to be removed, thus enabling the breech of the gun to be withdrawn without unlocking the head of the shock absorber from the cavity. The spherical part of the shock absorber is provided with flats 41 which during assembly pass through gaps 40 in the cavity, the parts being then given a quarter turn for locking.
