Abstract
499,660. Electrode materials. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and SOMMER, A. July 26, 1937, No. 20627. [Class 39 (i)] A photoelectrically sensitive and secondary electron emissive surface comprises a base member of oxidized metal carrying a photoelectrically sensitive layer of caesium or an under layer of another alkali metal. On an oxidized silver surface first rubidium and then caesium are deposited ; the surface thus formed is then oxidized until photo-electric sensitivity is substantially destroyed, and is finally heated to distil caesium to the surface. The oxidation and reheating may be repeated, as described in Specification 474,616.
